Anamorphic Representation of a Chair

A hyperbolic projection was used to create this video based on Niceron's 1646 drawing.

Historically parallel to the magic lantern, anamorphic perspective was developed in the 17th century by Catholic Jesuits who used it as a propaganda weapon in the war against the Protestants known as the Counter-Reformation.

(Note: the video was filmed at Bioscleave House, an art/science research facility designed by Arakawa + Gins.)
