1979 - Experimental installations using sound and still photographic images - from an MFA thesis exhibition I had at Pratt Institute. (This is the earliest work shown on this site.)
Sound Wire Oscillation -
A panoramic photomontage of an electric wire is seen stretched across an ordinary landscape from horizon to zenith to horizon. The image is illuminated by unsynced strobes miced to produce an electronic sound field that can be perceived as randomly changing direction.
Bird Take-off Loop -
in the photographic pair, shore birds are shown floating in a saltwater marsh and also taking off. The accompanying sound field depicts the relative quietude of the static position as it transitions into the ruckus of the take-off state. The looped and continuous audio duration is montaged against the 2-frame documentation of the visual duration.
